For 3.5 Quarters of the rematch, things went according to what we expected. At least on the scoreboard.
Les Miles appeared asleep at the wheel, as did his team and the Tigers and their much maligned QB Jordan Jefferson never got the offense going against that nasty Alabama defense.
Alabama used great play calling from outgoing OC Jim McElwain and a solid effort out of Sophomore QB A.J. McCarron to keep the Tide out in front. A late TD, the first (and only) in the two games between these two teams this year, by Trent Richardson sealed the deal completely at the end and sent the LSU faithful to Bourbon Street to drown their sorrows.
All the credit goes to Nick Saban and that Alabama defense, but LSU fans will certainly be left wondering about the play calling and decision making of their guru leader, Les Miserables. Les played Jordan Jefferson the entire game, even after Jefferson made horrible decisions and LSU fans booed him repeatedly.
The consolation prize for LSU though? No more Jefferson in purple and gold. And most assuredly a top 5 ranking again next year (behind what is sure to be a preseason #1 Alabama team).
